Benefits of tai chi

Everyone can benefit from practising tai chi, but did you know that tai chi is particularly good for seniors?

Incorporating tai chi into a regular exercise routine can assist with strengthening and balance, both of which can help to prevent falls. In September, we attended the Northcote Senior Citizens monthly meeting, where Janine Miller from our Wellness Centre in Preston facilitated a tai chi demonstration. Janine co-ordinates the tai chi classes at the Wellness Centre and is very passionate about the benefits for seniors. About 40 people participated in the session. Most people were able to stand and join in the gentle exercises, even those that remained seated due to mobility restrictions. It was a very popular day enjoyed by all, as you can see from the accompanying photo.
