It was great to see local councils supporting older Australians in the community during the Victorian Seniors Festival celebrations last month.
Many councils held free events and activities at council-owned facilities, parks and gardens. Maroondah City Council, located in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, held a free Seniors Festival Day at the Karralyka Centre in Ringwood. The day comprised of a free morning tea and lunch, with entertainment provided by Dolly Diamond and her three-piece band in the centre’s modern auditorium. It was a very popular day with more than 320 people registering. Our staff participated in the Community Services Expo to provide information about aged care services in the local community. It was lovely seeing so many people engaging in the event. Dolly and her band were a huge hit!
