Macleod Cottage Respite

Macleod Cottage offers carers or family members peace of mind and a well-deserved break, by providing an experienced team of experts to assist people while they stay with us.

What is Macleod Cottage?

Located in Melbourne’s outer north east, Macleod Cottage offers vital support to the carers and family of older people who are no longer able to fully care for themselves.

Macleod Cottage is a small, home-like environment that can accommodate up to ten people at a time. The cottage offers carers or family members the chance to have a day off here and there, or even return to work knowing their loved one is well cared for.

We offer a variety of respite options, whether for a few hours or several days.

Choose the care you need

Our respite care hours are entirely flexible. We can provide for a gradual and gentle introduction to the service at Macleod Cottage, as well as the option to extend for up to 10 hours a day for people returning to work.

We also support people living with dementia. Every person who attends Macleod Cottage is encouraged to live life the way they choose. They are supported to socialise with others and participate in a diverse range of activities, or pursue their own individual interests and abilities.

Overnight respite is also available six nights a week.

With five bedrooms, including one for couples, our cottage offers a safe environment with all the comforts of home. Overnight respite can be arranged on an occasional, regular, planned or short stay basis. It can vary from one night up to six consecutive nights.

How to access our respite services

You may be able to access our respite services through a government-funded program such as the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) or through a Home Care Package (HCP).
